Pokémon

As someone who is nearly the #1 Mareep fan, I had to put this as the first piece of media on this page. I've enjoyed Pokémon since I was a child, after I was introduced to it by a boy in my class. They were playing with their Pokémon cards; I never owned any, except for the 2-3 Ponyta and Rapidash cards my mother owned since she was a kid herself. I did not play with these, not because they wouldn't make a great team, but, for one, because they traded cards when they lost. I did not want to give something away that belonged to my mother, even if she did not care about them. Also, I had a bit of a fear of losing things, even though I had probably never lost anything. I wonder where those cards are, though. I searched for them a few years after these events, but I couldn't find them. Speaking of things that disappeared, the TV channel I used to watch Pokémon on also disappeared. If memory serves, it was called Kadet, or 'Cadet' in English. The Pokémon seasons broadcast on this channel were XY, XY (Kalos Quest), XYZ, and all the Sun & Moon variants. I don't know why they started splitting seasons into multiple parts; They used to make separate ones. I also started totally-not-illegally watching these earlier series. You can't find the first ones on any streaming service, or at least not permanently. Some of the episodes might even be labeled 'lost media', since they got ripped from TV (some before they even made it into English) because they either contained guns (get 'em, James!), or because they gave children epileptic attacks... (I'm looking at you, Porygon.) Either way, I still haven't finished watching it. Mostly because there are a lot of episodes. The first season alone has around 80 episodes that are 20-ish minutes long. That's 1 600 minutes, or around 27 hours, of content in the first season alone. At the time of writing, there are 27 seasons. In Ash's arc there are, let's say, 1300 episodes. Most of the time anime episodes are 20 minutes, but sometimes they're randomly longer or shorter; Either way, I'm taking 20 minutes. That would be 26 000 minutes, or around 433 hours. That's a lot of watchtime, which I haven't yet gotten around to. Leaving the random math aside, I'm talking about the movies next. I saw some of them as a kid, and some as a slightly older kid. That was also the first time I saw Brock and Misty. I can understand you don't want to watch the whole series, but these few hour-long films are definitely worth watching. Every single one of them is emotional, so prepare to cry or stress for the mildly stupid characters. Whether some small child is dying or dead, or the characters are thrown into an abyss, these movies are bound to make you feel something, especially child me. We all know Ash nearly dies a bunch of times, but in these movies he keeps dying the saddest deaths and then reviving or somehow surviving. I specifically remember at one point in my life I was convinced he was dead, because he was talking to Pikachu for some reason. Broski was in heaven, and Pikachu sounded like a little girl, even though it's male. It made 10-year-old me cry, so it's a good movie if I've ever known one.
